Engineers Week 2026 "Engineering Resilience : Protecting Communities and Empowering Professionals"
IER Engineering Week Activities (3–6 March 2026) will be held under the theme “Engineering Resilience: Protecting Communities and Empowering Professionals.” The week brings together engineering leaders, practicing professionals, and emerging graduates to strengthen professional capacity while delivering visible community impact. From 3–4 March 2026, IER will host a two-day training workshop for CEOs, consulting firm directors, and senior engineers, focused on strengthening leadership, sharing updates on best-practice standards, and enhancing project delivery skills. On 5 March 2026, IER will conduct an awards ceremony recognizing outstanding engineering graduates (University of Rwanda cohort: 17 October 2025), celebrating academic excellence and promoting professional mentorship. The week concludes on 6 March 2026 with a community service activity: construction of protective fencing and stabilization of the Mpazi water channel surrounding Gitega Primary School, aimed at improving school safety, reducing erosion and flooding risks, and demonstrating engineering service to the community.
